Colonial Bookbinder

Today is my first day being a bookbinder! A bookbinder is basically a person who binds books, people say that it’s time consuming, it is, but alot of people say its fun too. I have all the tools necessary, I started off by having my apprentice make creases in some pages with a bone blade, always right side up. After that I took the creased pages, put them on a sewing frame, and beated them with a hammer to flaten them. Then I got waxed linen thread and sewed through the folds and around the strings of the frame, then trimmed the pages. Im almost done!  I attached colored endpapers, and I used marbled paper that I brought back from England and used brass tools to imprint designs that I liked. Then lastly I stamped onto the cover, a gold leaf. It took me nearly 20 hours to finish! I only put blank pages in it so I took it home and I wrote this in it with my Quill pen.
